We are making this MFA change now because Microsoft is phasing out text and voice verification and moving to passkeys or authenticator apps. Early adoption gives staff time to set them up and get support before Microsoft's February 2027 deadline.
We recommend setting up both methods below. Please note that you can use your iPad, but you will need to have it with you to authenticate when asked.
YES- BOTH ARE LISTED
If you have Microsoft Authenticator and Passkey in your list, click Change.
Select "App based authentication - notification(Authenticator App)" or "App based authentication or hardware token- code (Passkey)"
Congratulations, you are done.
NO- ONE OR BOTH ARE MISSING
If you do NOT see Microsoft Authenticator and Passkey in your list, you will need to add them as authentication methods.
Move to the directions below.
Once you have added Microsoft Authenticator and Passkey in your list, move to the next step.
Last Step: Change your Method
Now that you have added Microsoft Authenticator and Passkey in your list, click Change.
Select "App based authentication - notification(Authenticator App)" or "App based authentication or hardware token- code (Passkey)"
You are done and ready for February's cutoff, which will no longer allow text or call verification.
If you have any trouble, please stop by the tech office for assistance.
