HANAMAKI ADVENTURE RACING

Race Venue: Hanamaki City, Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture

Unknown Challenge

An adventure race is a journey where you challenge yourself in the midst of magnificent nature. It's okay for beginners. All you need is a spirit of adventure and teamwork. You'll cross mountains and descend rivers with your teammates, reading maps along the way. You'll discover strengths you didn't know you had and deepen bonds with others. The courage to stand at the starting line will lead you to a new world. Let's step into the unknown challenge together.

Nature Play Multi-Sport Race

This is a team-based multi-sport race set in a natural environment. Participants will utilize activities such as trekking, rafting, and biking, aiming to reach checkpoints specified by a map and compass.

First Held in Iwate Prefecture

The inaugural adventure race is said to have taken place in 1989 in New Zealand. It has since expanded to various locations in Japan, set against the backdrop of the great outdoors, and finally arrives in Iwate Prefecture for the first time. Who will be the fierce competitors to win the first race in the prefecture?

Activities to Experience in Adventure Races

Map Reading

The greatest feature of adventure racing and the essence of the race itself! Use your knowledge and senses to find a route that is unique to your team!

Trekking

Trekking is a popular activity among enthusiasts who enjoy mountain climbing and hiking. In adventure races, participants may walk on unmarked paths, and strong teams may even run. The key to completing the race is to distribute the pace according to the physical fitness of team members.

Rafting

Rafting is a thrilling experience of navigating downstream in a raft you made yourself. Controlling the boat by your own will while riding the river downstream is an exciting adventure.

Bike

The bike section is the longest distance to cover in an adventure race. Surrendering yourself to the flowing scenery and cutting through the wind as you ride can be incredibly exhilarating!

Team activities

One of the attractions of adventure racing is the challenge of pooling the team's strength to tackle given tasks and solve them as quickly as possible. There are checkpoints where teams must clear challenges together, testing not only their intelligence and physical fitness but also their teamwork.

Finish

The sense of achievement at the finish line after a grueling race becomes one of life's most exhilarating moments. You'll share the greatest moment with your teammates!
