New School Construction

We’re excited about the construction of a new PFC James D. Price Elementary School on Yuma Proving Grounds. Families and community members can check this site for monthly updates, photos, and other information regarding the status of the project.

Estimated Timeline

(Dates and information are subject to change)

Groundbreaking occurred in May, 2026 and construction will begin. Students will continue to learn in the existing structure.

Construction will be underway, while students continue to learn in the existing structure.

Construction is expected to be completed by Summer, 2027.

Students may begin the 27/28 school year in the new building.

Once students and staff have moved into the new building, demo will begin on the old facility.

September, 2026

What We've Done: Passed compaction test and passed leak inspection on Building Pad A

August, 2026

What We've Done: Trenches are dug for PVC pipe and began staking Buildings A and B and retention bases.

Staked the water, fire, and sewer lines for Building A, and staked the back of curb for the parking area

Passed leak inspection for sewer drainage for Building B

July, 2026

What We've Done: The site is being prepared with fencing and by clearing, grubbing and watering the site. Excavation is underway.

June, 2026

What We've Done: On June 2nd, the Governing Board voted to approve the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) submitted by Pilkington Construction, marking a major milestone that authorizes the project to move into the construction phase under an established cost structure that ensures budget control and accountability.

What We've Done: The official groundbreaking was held on May 19th, marking the start of the construction.

What's Next: Construction is scheduled to begin on June 16, 2026.
