Battle of the Books
America's Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together, usually in groups, to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books they have read. The student competitions are usually similar to the TV series Family Feud or Whiz Kids styles of competitions.
To qualify, students must read any six books from the list below for their grade level. Students who read six books by December 5th will be invited to compete in the Battle of the Books competition at Redstone! Students in 5th-6th grade who win at the site level, will be invited to compete against Lakeview and Independence Intermediate at the district competition in the Spring!
Students who attempt this reading challenge will be rewarded with prizes at predetermined intervals throughout the challenge, with a grand prize for those who finish! Prizes include: free food coupons, free school supplies, certificates, shout outs, parties, science museum passes, picture in the yearbook and other awesome prizes!
