As mentioned in previous updates, we are basing our rehearsal mode on school districts' decisions regarding their after school activities. This framework is a more appropriate marker for our purposes, but is a more complicated to digest. If we used learning models as our model, YCCM would suspend in-person events. If we exclusively used schools' decisions to hold extra curricular activities, we would continue in-person rehearsals with current mitigating steps. However, each activity is slightly different, as is each school district. The MSHSL has put out guidance, but it is not as succinct as the Safe Learning plan, and districts have much more flexibility in implementing their activities. Most districts are

Percentages are based on singers currently enrolled in high schools. This excludes six percent of singers that are homeschooled or enrolled full time in PSEO.
Most schools are continuing activities into the winter with modifications, so the percentage is a bit misleading. There are no state or regional standards for "modes" of continuing after-school activities, and modifications differ between various activities.
October 29:
Our rehearsal mode will be driven by school districts' choices moving forward. Current experiences in most districts are demonstrating that community spread is not generally occurring in the school setting. However, schools are still moving to a Distance Model based on case numbers per 10,000 in their county, zip codes, and school populations. Through these transitions, many districts are opting to continue their after school athletics and activities. YCCM considers itself on par with these activities, and in some ways, more safe than proximity sports.
Currently, other than football and volleyball, most activities are between seasons. As winter activities are scheduled to begin, we will be watching school decisions on whether they opt to continue winter activities, or suspend them until they are in hybrid mode. We will make a decision based on the population of our singers as demonstrated below. If a large contingent of schools begin to suspend activities, we will follow suit and move rehearsals online. We hope to make these decisions by Thursday of each week, but reserve the opportunity to make a later decision if school decisions happen quickly (for instance, if a number of school suspend activities on Friday for the following Monday).
