Deep Creek Elementary School has partnered with Harry Chapin Food Bank to establish an in-school food pantry. This nationally acclaimed food distribution model, taken by Feeding America, is designed to provide an accessible source of food assistance to students and their families in need. By locating panties inside schools, students and their families have easier access to food assistance and feel more comfortable accessing food assistance in this manner.
How to access the pantry:
Students can access the pantry with a a staff member present during school hours. If you would like your child to access the pantry you can contact Ms. Navarro or write the request in your student's planner. If a student mentions to a staff member that they need food, they will be given access to the food pantry.
Parents can access the Food Pantry via an appointment or during special school events (Open House, Teddy Bear Picnic).
If you would like, the school social worker can pack a bag and send food home with your student.
