Did you know?
MCKINNEY VENTO HOMELESS ASSISTANCE ACT IS APART OF NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND ACT?
When families or youth are homeless, they often experience many moves. Therefore, the Mckinney-Vento allows students to remain in one school to increase academic stability even if this is no longer the school of residency. Transportation will be arranged by the school district.
If a move to a new school is necessary, the receiving school must enroll the students immediately, even when normally required documents such as birth certificates, immunization records, or proof of residency are not available. Students experiencing homelessness have access to all the educational services available in the school system, including special education
