What is the Short Film Competition? 

The Short Film Competition is intended to highlight storytelling through film as a means of reflection and expression. Participants are invited to create short films that capture real-life experiences, emotions, and moments where Qur’anic guidance shapes perspective, choices, and personal growth.

The Living Light  - Qur’anic Guidance in Everyday Life

This year’s theme explores how the Qur’an is not only read, but lived especially through quiet everyday moments and personal challenges. Films should demonstrate how a verse, value, or reminder from the Qur’an can influence someone’s mindset, decisions, or direction in life.

YMC 2026 Short Film Competition - 

Theme: The Living Light – Qur’anic Guidance in Everyday Life

Event Details:

• Date: Sunday, May 24

• Time: 3:45 PM – 5:00 PM

• Location: Ballroom I (700)

Submission General Guidelines:

• Max Short Film Length: 10 minutes

• Team Size: Teams may include up to 5 members (crew/team/main characters); Please note this number does not include additional background characters!

• Team size: You may also work individually or have a team less then five people if you prefer. 

• Submissions should be story-based, reflective, or narrative-drive. 

*Deadline: May 17th, 11:59 PM (One week before YMC)*

Content Direction (Suggested Focus Areas):

• Real-life struggles or emotional experiences +Mental health and personal reflection

• Internal conflict or decision-making moments

• A shift in perspective influenced by Qur’anic guidance 

Submission & Selection Process:

• All films must be submitted through this form with a YouTube video link. *See Submission Form for more details.*

• A preliminary review will select the Top 3 films that will be showcased during the live session. 

• A winning team will be selected and will receive a prize.

• *Registration Form is separate from the Submission Form. After completing your film, be sure to submit it through the Submission Form linked below. Please have only person from your team submit the film.
