Pioneer League

The Pioneer League, started by the New York Special Olympics, allows students to play in various sports against other local districts.

It is a great opportunity for students to socialize with their peer group, work on team-building skills, stay physically fit, and represent the Yorktown Central School District. 

Athletes from Mildred E Strand Middle School and Yorktown High School participate in the NYS Special Olympics Pioneer League, which includes 15 teams in the region. 

Several of our students volunteer to facilitate this program, and our student body spirit group The Crop attends games in order to support and encourage our students.
