Circle of Friends

Faculty Advisors: Beth Livermore and Marissa Faulkner

Student Leaders: Olivia Biggs and Daniella Filippone

Circle of Friends is a club that reaches out to our Skills and Achievement students with autism and other disabilities and involves them in a full experience of socializing with their high school peers. We invite our high school students to become peer mentors assisting our students with all of the activities experienced by a typical YHS student; sports, music, dance, video games, and more. We encourage all students to join our club! Bring your talent, enthusiasm and Yorktown spirit!

Circle of Friends meets twice each month. During our first meeting of each month, our Peer Mentors meet with Mrs. Faulkner and Ms. Livermore and plan the activities that the club will participate in as a whole during the subsequent club meeting. These activities range from fun creative snacks, group games, crafting activities, and more depending on the nature and preferences of the individuals participating. During our second meeting, Peer Mentors and students meet together to engage in the planned activities. Circle of Friends also participates in several Gourmet Popcorn sales throughout the year, to raise funds and spread information about the club. These fundraising opportunities also provide a space for members to engage with the greater school population.

Circle of Friends meets twice each month on Tuesday. Our Peer Mentor Meetings are scheduled for 2:15-3:00PM and our Club Meetings are scheduled for 2:15-3:30.
