Mr. Shuman has been in education for over 15 years, working at many different levels within grades K-12. He started out teaching when he was still in high school, earning a pass to go off campus several times during the week to teach Spanish to 2nd graders and then Japanese to students in grade 5 at the nearby elementary schools.
Mr. Shuman hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Southern Maine and a Masters degree in Technology Education from Lesley University. In order to better support both students and staff in York, he studied and now holds certifications as a Google for Education Certified Educator and Trainer. Mr. Shuman is also a Common Sense Media Certified Educator where he has to demonstrate an understanding of Digital Citizenship and technology ethics.
When not teaching or working with technology, Mr. Shuman likes to find new hiking trails, kayak in the warmer months whenever possible, and x-country ski when the snow hits the ground. He has also been known to juggle from time-to-time.
