My comparative study compares the 1982 film The Thing, directed by John Carpenter, and the 2015 film Tag, directed by Sion Sono. It examines the question of how filmmakers use plot structure, soundtrack & cinematography to create a suspenseful atmosphere in a horror film. What I gathered from this study was that both Carpenter and Sono have created unique suspenseful atmospheres for their films, through their use of these elements.
