About the Music Program

The purpose of the York Elementary School Music Program is to provide students with musical experiences in the areas of singing, playing instruments, dancing, and interacting with music from a variety of genres, cultures, composers, and musical periods. Students will build a foundation of music skills, as well as a love for music, which will enable them to be lifelong musicians.

About the Teacher

Hello! I am Jennifer Niemann, and I am blessed to be the York Elementary School music teacher. I am a graduate of York High School and the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. My degrees include a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education, and a Masters in Music with a specialization in Music Education. I am certified in Orff-Schulwerk, which is the approach I love and use for teaching elementary music.

My wonderful family includes a husband, two sons, one daughter, and one dog. We live on the family farm, and enjoy getting to live the country life while being actively involved in the community of York.

I am a flutist, and I enjoy performing for local churches and schools. I am also a member of the Seward Municipal Band in the summers, and the First Presbyterian Church Choir and Bell Choir during the school year. My other musical passion is playing soprano, alto, and tenor recorder. When I'm not making music, I enjoy quilting, knitting, scrapbooking, cardmaking, and the occasional round of golf.
