Pt. Sur lighthouse and its supporting lightstation buildings, now a California State Historic Park, stand atop a dramatic volcanic rock just off-shore in Big Sur, California. This historic aid-to-navigation has a modern aero-beacon which still guides ships along the treacherous Central California Coast. On the National Register of Historic Places and a California landmark, Pt. Sur can be visited by guided walking tours year round.

In this project you will design your own replica of the lighthouse.
Empty Plastic Water Bottle (Clear)
Cardboard cutout provided to you
Coin cell
Coin Cell Insert
Led Light
Tape
Wire
First, ask an adult to cut a hole and remove the entire bottom of the bottle. Since the bottom half of the bottle will be covered by the lighthouse, we can stuff the battery back and led here.
Secondly, insert the batteries into the battery pack. Make sure the negative labeled side of the battery is on the spring.
Thirdly, attach the top wire or the most right wire to the on and off switches bottom part, and attach another wire to the top. This wire will be the one going to the LED.
Insert the coin cell into its holder, then from there hook the wires up to the flashing led.
Put these to the side. Punch out the cutout from the cardboard and fold it into its shape. The parts marked with an x, you can fully cut or punch out.
Wire the wire and led up and tape it to the side, so the led is at the very peak of the bottle.
Then insert it into the hole in the cardboard, and voila! You now have a replica of the Big Sur lighthouse!
