Workshop title: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Higher Education
Description: This workshop aims to increase awareness and understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues among staff and students in Higher Education. It will cover issues such as intercultural competence, allyship, inclusive language, unconscious bias, microaggressions, and intersectionality, among others. The objective of the workshop is to encourage participants to identify barriers to equity and inclusion in the higher education environment, and foster the development of strategies for creating a more inclusive and welcoming community.

Title: Municipality of Thessaloniki Trees
Description: The presentation is about the Industrial Project, in which we had to develop and improve an application for the Municipality of Thessaloniki. The application aims to help the Municipality in watering and maintaining trees by allowing citizens to adopt trees. Users can navigate through the map of the city and select trees they would like to adopt. Once adopted, the trees can be marked as watered to help the Municipality keep track of the watering status of the trees. Our presentation will focus on presenting the work that we did to improve the application and the challenges we faced.

Title: Politeness in Service Encounters in Greece: Customers’ Perceptions
Description: The presentation will provide an insight into the politeness strategies preferred by Modern Greek speakers in commercial and non-commercial service encounters (SEs), taking into consideration their gender and age. Commercial SEs include services requiring immediate monetary exchange such as supermarket, kiosk or coffee shop, and non-commercial service encounters constitute services not requiring payment (or at least the payment is not immediate) like information desk, animal shelter or booking an appointment. Participants' data were drawn through a Written Discourse Completion Task questionnaire, which included 20 imaginary SEs scenarios, where participants wrote how they would ask for an item from the worker.
