PGRs attending YISEC 2023 in Bradford
The Yorkshire Innovation in Science and Engineering Conference (YISEC) 2024 is a PGR-led training conference with the involvement of the following Yorkshire-based Universities:
University of York
University of Hull (Host)
University of Bradford
University of Huddersfield
York St John University
Leeds Beckett University
The conference this year is taking place on the 20th & 21st June 2024 in Hull. This is a great opportunity that gives PhD students the opportunity to:
Write a paper
Get feedback on their work
Review papers themselves
Give an oral presentation
Make and present a poster
The best this about this conference is that it is all training. This means it is not published, meaning it is a low pressure environment to build your confidence. Work produced can therefore be expanded upon following feedback and submitted elsewhere, or used as purely training!
Calls for:
Short Papers
These are 4-page papers, featuring anything from experiments carried out, literature reviews or position papers. Submission consists of an abstract (150- to 250-words), followed by the full paper submission. An extra page will be allowed after the reviewing period to address feedback. Papers should be in IEEE format and submitted to EasyChair.
Posters
Initial submission for posters is in the form of an abstract (150- to 250-words). Poster submission will follow a few weeks after. University of York posters will have their printing costs covered by the department!
3- Minute Thesis
This is a competition where you must give a 3-minute elevator pitch of your PhD topic. Given the limited time, this is a great way to practice concise speaking, aimed at the Science community as a whole (not just CS), meaning you have to cater to a more general listener. Slides are allowed for the competition, as long as you can finish in 3 minutes! Sign-up to the competition will be available shortly.
In the fields of (those related to CS):
