About:
University 'G D'annunzio' of Chieti-Pescara is a public research university which is located in Chieti and Pescara, which are neighbouring cities in Abruzzo, Italy. The university provides undergraduate, graduate and post graduate programmes, as well as international programmes in a wide range of fields. The University's main campus is located in Chieti and the Pescara campus is a satellite campus.
Highlights:
The main campus (Chieti) houses the Rectorate Auditorium, which is used for music concerts, academic ceremonies and more. It also contains the Giardino dei Semplici, which is a botanical garden that is operated by the university. The Nature Trail is another highlight which runs across the campus.
The Campus of Pescara, which is located in the city centre, has the the Nature Reserve Pineta Dannunziana, the Aurum Museum and Pescara's Citadel of Justice close by. Also notable is the Palazzo Micara, arguably the campus' most prominent structure, which is located at the intersection of the Citadel of Justice and Viale Pindaro.

You must take a full credit load while on exchange. University 'G D'annunzio' of Chieti-Pescara uses the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) to show credit values. 30 ECTS is the equivalent to 60 York credits, and 60 ECTS is the equivalent to 120 York credits.

For information on university affiliated accommodation, check out the accommodation webpage.
For private accommodation, on average, prices for a private room in a shared apartment range from 200 to €300 per month. You will be required to pay a 1- 3 months deposit when you sign a contract. The university states that you should always demand a signed receipt of payment if it is not given to you.
For the Chieti campus, there is a lot of accommodation in the area and it is a well developed area where there may not be any real need for transport to restaurants and services. Pescara is a bit bigger than Chieti and so students live in many different neighbourhoods depending on their interests and costs.
Orientation / Welcome week:
The University runs a welcome week which is dedicated to international students. It is designed to help students to find their way around, settle in, learn about their courses and meet new people. Detailed information about the welcome week is sent to students 2-3 weeks before their arrival.

Kitty, Year Abroad in Italy, 2019/20
"I really enjoyed my time in Italy. I have had so many new experiences, met lots of new people and improved my knowledge of the Italian language. My confidence in talking to people in their native language has definitely increased and I feel like I can hold a conversation with someone well and deal with problems when they arise."
Eloise, Year Abroad in Italy, 2019/20
"My experience abroad has made me more confident in my own abilities. Speaking the language was one of the biggest challenges and I am proud of myself for going out of my comfort zone, speaking in Italian despite being afraid and succeeding in overcoming my fears. I was able to make friends with Italian speakers and passed speaking exams in Italian. These experiences have helped me to realise that I can do more than I think I can."
Have a look at some more student stories on the Global Opportunities website!
Please note: these tips have been provided by students who have studied abroad - Global Opportunities recommends that you use these as a guide only and do your own research on what is best for you.
Money and Banking:
I used a Monzo card - it is an online bank which you control through an app but there are no fees for using a different currency, you can take money out at an ATM for free and it uses the most current exchange rate (and sends you a notification as soon as you have purchased something with this information).
Staying Connected:
I spoke to my parents and friends at home a lot, which helped me settle.
Food:
Almost anywhere you go, make sure to find a restaurant where the locals go and you're guaranteed to eat well.
Paperwork and bureaucracy:
It is a good idea to make a to do list of paperwork.
What I wished I'd known...:
I wish I'd known that you never know if your time abroad is going to be unexpectedly cut short so make the most of every second.
