FAQ

How did this group get started?

In 2020, a group of researchers wrote to autism journals to ask that they consider offering registered reports, a format in which studies are reviewed prior to data collection. In collecting signatories for this letter, conversations began about what else could be done to encourage more open and reproducible practices in autism research. And thus this group began!

Who funds this?

We have received some support from the University of York to start this group and host some events. However we do not have any large scale grants to support our work - the researchers involved in organising this group do so in their own time.

What was the outcome of your letter about registered reports?

You can see the latest version of the letter with our signatories here.

We emailed the letter, dated May 12th, to the listed journals. Some have not responded, while some editors did reply to say that they were considering adopting RRs in their journals. We are actively working with one journal to bring this format online by the end of 2021 (and we'll have more news about this at our 8th September workshop!).
