My academic citizenship has included contributing to research networks, supporting postgraduate and early career researchers, organising academic events, mentoring, and undertaking peer review. I have particularly valued opportunities to create spaces for collaboration, knowledge exchange and professional development within migration studies and sociology.

I served as Communications Manager for the IMISCOE PhD Network, an international network connecting doctoral researchers working across migration and mobility studies. As part of this role, I supported communication and engagement across the network, sharing opportunities, events and resources with PhD researchers internationally. I also contributed to creating opportunities for doctoral researchers to connect with one another, share their research and build academic networks across institutions and countries.

Pathways to Impact: Early Career Researcher Workshop · British Academy Development Fund
June 2026
I was awarded funding from the British Academy Development Fund to develop and deliver Pathways to Impact, a workshop for early career researchers. The event brought together ECRs to share work in progress, explore approaches to research impact and knowledge exchange, and develop practical skills for communicating research beyond academia. The programme included presentations and showcases, a keynote and facilitated training, creating space for researchers to exchange ideas, share experiences and learn from one another.
I have undertaken peer review for academic journals including Cultural Sociology, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Secularism and Nonreligion.
I founded and chair the Apostasy Advisory Group, established to inform the development of the Protecting the Non-Religious toolkit on asylum claims based on non-religion and apostasy. The group brings together people with lived experience of apostasy and asylum alongside researchers and practitioners, providing advice and perspectives to help ensure that the toolkit reflects the experiences and needs of those it is intended to support.
