Successful applicants will be expected to start in Sept 2026. This cannot be pushed back due to funding constraints.
You should apply to the relevant role via the University portal which will guide you through the process.
In addition to a CV and cover letter, some vacancies require a 1-page proposal on how you would approach one or more of the key research questions. Please check the job description to see if this applies to the project you are interested in.
LCAB’s postdoctoral roles are eligible for visa sponsorship, assuming the candidate meets the relevant criteria - the preferred visa route is the Global Talent visa. For more information please see the University’s policy on visa sponsorship.
Applicants who have yet to receive their PhD must have submitted their thesis by the time they start in post and then must complete their viva within 3 months of starting.
Interviews will take place in June 2026. Interviews will be carried out via zoom by the project line manager and a mentorship team member plus the Centre Director and Centre Manager.
All LCAB staff and students are expected to be physically based in LCAB at the University of York for a minimum of 50% of the time, with the exception of periods of fieldwork. This is because the ethos of LCAB is to be interactive and collaborative and so we want people to be physically in York, in LCAB’s collaborative office space, so that we can break down barriers between disciplines over extended periods of time.
For informal queries about a particular role, please contact the line manager.
