I am a Senior Lecturer in Linguistics at the Department of Language and Linguistic Science at the University of York, where I've served since 2016. Previously, I was a Research Coordinator for the Interactional Foundations of Language Project at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen, The Netherlands (2011-2016). I received my PhD (2010) and MA (2006) in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my BA in Linguistics from Macalester College (2003). My research has resulted in over 40 peer-reviewed publications, including 30+ journal articles, 8 book chapters, and 4 edited volumes, with a focus on conversation analysis, interactional linguistics, and multimodal communication.
