To achieve this, we employ three broad strategies to guide GHE2’s activities, and maximise our capability building reach and impact.
GHE2 represents a community of researchers and we strive to generate an environment of shared learning and opportunities.
We are commitmented to using GHE2 research to inform existing and future training in health economics, as well as harness our collective expertise to support the next generation of global health researchers.
Bespoke short training courses for researchers, students and policy-makers are being developed and delivered by GHE2 researchers, and include data and results from GHE2 research. For example: a course on “Econometric Policy Analysis Methods” is to be delivered by the South Africa (PRICELESS SA) team in 2019.
MSc students are provided with opportunities to work closely alongside GHE2 researchers to practice their skills. The GHE2 project team provide collective and one-on-one mentorship to these students. For example: the ‘Summer MSc Placement’ scheme with the UK (CHE) team sees MSc economics students carrying-out independent projects under supervision by GHE2 researchers; and the Brazil (FIPE) team provide dedicated thesis mentoring to MSc students working on GHE2.
The project team use GHE2’s results to help equip policy-makers with the data and skills required to make informed policy decisions, and contribute towards improving the global community’s understanding of how health economics methods can contribute towards addressing pressing health challenging in low- and middle-income country settings.
