In 2020 physical and social distance has become a defining feature of our society and how we experience the world. Considering how distance has affected our own lives can bring a new appreciation for how distance played an integral role in the communities and cultures of eighteenth-century society. The events hosted on this site is a collective effort bringing together postgraduate students from across the globe. Each one offers unique insights into various aspects of distance in the long eighteenth-century.
To accommodate the new physical restrictions in our own academic landscape, this conference will be held virtually. It will operate on a combined platform:
Postgraduate presenters have uploaded presentations onto the dedicated google site for conference delegates available from the 3 - 14 August 2020. You will need to create a google account to access the delegate only website.
Keynote speeches, workshops, live panel Q&As and social activities will take place on Zoom at scheduled times during the conference period. These will run at times that enable international participation.
Attendance at this conference is free. You can sign up to join in until the very end of the conference.
