Russell is a Consultant Haematologist at the Queen's Centre for Oncology and Haematology, Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where he was also Medical Director for Clinical Support. He is clinical lead for the Haematological Malignancy Research Network (HMRN) and has contributed to the study’s research outputs for many years.
His specific areas of clinical expertise include lymphoma and autologous stem cell transplant, and he is an expert in communication techniques and teaches these skills to junior staff.
Debra is Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Epidemiology & Cancer Statistics Group (ECSG). She is a founding member of the Haematological Malignancy Research Network (HMRN) the group's main research programme, which was instigated in 2004. Her research focuses on patient experiences of blood cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship, with a view to improving care.
Debra leads ECSG’s qualitative research and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE). She is also responsible for managing HMRN's data collection processes.
Bob is a Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Reviews & Dissemination and the Hull York Medical School. He is also an Honorary Consultant in Paediatric /Teenage-Young Adult Oncology at Leeds Children's Hospital.
His main areas of work are in the development of Individual Participant Data (IPD) Meta-analysis, supportive care management, the development of appraisal skills and the translation of clinical research in practice.
Ian is a professor of experimental haematology and director of the newly-established Centre for Blood Research at the University of York.
Ian's research focuses on understanding the development of myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), a group of blood cancers characterised by the overproduction of red blood cells and/or platelets.
Adele is a physician-scientist and Professor of Haematology at the Hull York Medical School. She was President of the British Society for Haematology from 2020 to 2022.
In 1999, Adele was appointed Assistant Professor at the Mayo Clinic in America. She returned to the UK in 2003, joining the Royal Free Hospital before moving to the University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Adele's research aims to improve the lives of people with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and she is part of several clinical trials into this cancer, which explore underlying mechanisms and search for new treatments.
Eve is a professor of epidemiology and co-drector of the Epidemiology & Cancer Statistics Group (ECSG), wich is a member of the Centre for Blood Research at the University of York. She is a founding member of the Haematological Malignancy Research Network (HMRN), ECSG's main research programmed, which was instigated in 2004.
Eve's research focuses on the use of 'real-world' data to inform contemporary clinical practice and research - locally, nationally and internationally.
Alex is a professor of epidemiology and co-director of the Epidemiology & Cancer Statistics Group (ECSG). She is a founding member of the Haematological Malignancy Research Network (HMRN), ECSG's main research programme, overseeing all aspects of data management and analysis.
Alex is also a key member of the European Myelodysplastic Syndromes Registry (EUMDS) and VIVO Biobank, the UK's leading research resources dedicated to storing samples and data of cancers affecting children and young people.
