Programme structure & progression

The programme is offered as an apprenticeship, funded by your employer through the apprenticeship levy, and as non-apprentice fee paying route. Both the apprentice and non-apprentice programmes comprise 180 credits.

Apprenticeship programme structure

The programme structure is shown below. Your apprenticeship programme is an integrated degree programme, aligned with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner apprenticeship standard.  The taught modules in Years 1, 2 and 3 are equivalent to 160 credits in total. Once you have completed these modules and met the criteria for Gateway (outlined in the End Point Assessment Plan), you will be eligible to undertake the final 20 credit End Point Assessment Module.   On successful completion of the module, you will be awarded your degree and apprenticeship.

*These modules are only available to students who are not eligible to undertake Independent & Supplementary Prescribing for Non-Medical Prescribers. Where this applies, students will complete HEA00111M and HEA00122M instead of HEA00120M and HEA00124M.

Non-apprenticeship programme structure

The programme structure is shown below. In addition to the taught modules, which are equivalent to 120 credits in total, you will have to complete a 40 credit Service Improvement Project and a Transition to Advanced Practice which comprises of 20 credits.

End-point assessment

The End Point Assessment is a synoptic assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have gained during the programme.  You will need to take ownership in preparing for End Point Assessment independently throughout the programme.  The End Point Assessment for this programme comprises:  an Open Book Exam (2 hours) and a Presentation of Practice (including a 1,500 word clinical change report and 35 minute presentation).  The resources required for the exam will be three referenced case studies built from your own practice and from any point in the programme.
