Jiyeon So is a Professor in the Department of Communication at Yonsei University in South Korea. Before joining Yonsei University, she was an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the University of Georgia. She received her Ph.D. in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara, under the mentorship of Professor Robin Nabi.
Her research spans health communication, science communication, and the broader dynamics of persuasion.
By examining the mechanisms and effects of how health and science are communicated, she works toward crafting messages that are not only compelling but meaningfully impactful for society.
She is an award-winning communication scholar with numerous honors, including Top Paper Award from ICA (2023), Outstanding Teaching Award from Yonsei University (2021), and the M.G. Michael Award of Research Excellence from the University of Georgia (2018).
She has been recognized as a World Top 2% Researcher by Stanford University and Elsevier since 2022.
Her work has appeared in the field's most prestigious journals, including the Journal of Communication, Human Communication Research, Communication Research, Communication Theory, and Communication Monographs, where her paper on message fatigue was featured as the lead article.
