[KRF Project: AI based recognition & corresponding fallback system under irregular situations for Autonomous Vehicle]
In this project, the irregular situations associated with the AVs need to be monitored. An AI-assisted fallback system is to be developed to tackle these irregular situations.
Fully autonomous vehicle (FAV) has the biggest challenge of ‘No human in-charge’ in the vehicle. This absence of human intervention in the fully autonomous vehicles i.e., commonly known as ‘level 5’ vehicles, require a must recognition of certain common irregularities that may occur during driving. “A situation contrary to the normal rules or to the established situation is called as an irregular situation”. The challenge of ‘No human in-charge’ inside the FAV leads to plenty of situations that can cause irregularity outside AVs. The common sources and causes are listed below:
