“You are a birth servant. Do good without show or fuss. If you must take the lead, lead so that the mother is helped, yet still free and in charge. When the baby is born, they will rightly say: ‘We did it ourselves!’” – Tao Te Ching
In 2014 Kati watched The Business of Being Born. This documentary catapulted her on a path to midwifery. She began attending at local study group for birth workers and trained as a labor doula with toLabor. This ultimately led to an apprenticeship with a local homebirth midwife. She was able to work with multiple midwives during her time in Virginia. In 2016 she moved to West Virginia and began a new apprenticeship. 2019 Kati put her midwifery journey on hold to become her mother's fulltime caregiver. Kati was by her mother's side when she peacefully transitioned at home in the Spring of 2021. She soon returned, full force, completing the apprenticeship model and earning the CMP credential through the North American Registry of Midwives in February 2024.
Kati lives in Gerrardstown WV with her husband, cat and two dogs. She enjoys reading, spending time in nature and perfecting gluten free baking.
