Pop Up Sports Days at Columbus City Schools
The goal for pop up sports with CCS children during the Covid-19 Pandemic is to nurture the spirit ,mind, and body with physical activity.
As a world we have all been faced with this pandemic which forced us to shift and continue to thrive in our everyday lives. The YWW team has created a mobile safe space to ensure the physical health and well being of the CCS children alongside with their educational learning.
Launched in 2018, the YMCA Community Corps is a community-based program focused on strengthening the health and well-being of youth who live in the Linden and Hilltop neighborhoods. Historically underserved, these two Columbus communities present the systemic challenges of generational poverty and the resulting disproportionally poor health outcomes of youth and families.
Adopting a collective impact approach, the YMCA Community Corps partners with local elementary schools, Columbus Public Health, and community partners to implement mid-day, after school, and summer health and wellness programs, encourage neighborhood walkability through Safe Routes to School, and support neighborhood pride through community beautification projects.
Produce Distribution Day
Staff and volunteers will be distributing FREE FRESH PRODUCE to qualified,
Low-income Franklin County residents.

Our Partnership with Columbus City Schools

Partnering with Columbus City Schools (CCS) by Implementing Coordinated Approach to a Child's Health (CATCH) allowed the then YMCA Community Corps to empower self-confidence,practice teamwork, and instill positive relationships with wellness and fitness. This program also has a Walking School Bus component along with assisting the CCS with other volunteering opportunities.
