This is a "home base" of weekly updates and events. Use this doc to back-track your hours, review announcements, and prepare for the next meeting.
We will practice co-leading the space. Similar to a game of "Telephone," you will run the meeting with a colleague. Support each other by tag-teaming/delegating talking points, time-keeping, note-taking, etc.
Complete the self-evaluation form before booking a time with Erika to go over your results: https://calendar.app.google/DyQZDsbsnYxUkDsY8 .
We will do two rounds: a mid-internship (week 3) and a post-eval (week 7), similar to how yli conducts a mid-year and annual review.
Use this doc to track community meeting highlights and outcomes.
Log the meetings that are marked with 🔵 from the SFSU Internship calendar. Additional training opportunities are located in the last question of the FAQ (scroll down).

You will meet with Erika every Monday in a group setting. You are welcome to schedule additional time to connect by check Erika's Calendar or using Erika's booking link. If none of the timeframes are available, send and email to edugay@yli.org.
What are the roles of my preceptor?
As a thought partner, your preceptor will help you think through your work plan strategy and identify areas to focus or deprioritize based on their understanding of your strategy and relation to project goals.
As a coach, your preceptor will help you grow, help hold you accountable to your goals, channel feedback from around the organization, to help you be as successful as you can be here and in the future.
As a mentor, your preceptor will connect you to networking opportunities and they will provide you with resources as requested/needed.
When can I start the projects I selected on the scope of work doc?
You are welcome to dive right in after you submit your Participant Packet form. Feel free to book a check-in to clarify any questions you may have or need guidance on getting started.
What's is my work schedule? How do I decide my work schedule?
SFSU requires you to work 15 hours per week. Typically, all interns and your preceptor will meet virtually for 1 hour on Mondays to discuss updates and areas of support for the week. You have the option to complete your hours in person at our office or through a hybrid format. You may decide your work format by checking our office hours on the calendar above.
Some best practices of past interns include:
Attending in-person for at least 1-2 days per week for 8 hours per day
1 day remote, 1 day in person
Connecting with interns to meet in person on the same days
When can I start working in person at the office?
Check the Intern google site calendar for the most up-to-date office timeframes (scroll up). Interns are expected to commit a minimum of 1-2 days working in-office/community.

You are welcome to attend any of the intern calendar events (they count as hours). Prepare a report back on topic items discussed and any learning outcomes/discoveries using the Activity Log and be ready to share them at our Monday check-ins.
If you’d like an idea on what previous interns have completed with us in the past, check out the section below. During your internship, there’s a chance you may build on existing work and/or adapt it for a similar project.
I'm behind on hours, how can I catch up?
Attend a virtual training (see list below). Make sure you log the activities in the Activity Log.
Contact your preceptor as soon as you are aware about shifts in your schedule, hours, etc. The sooner you ask for help, the quicker you will get your situation resolved.
What other trainings and professional development opportunities can I attend?
Check out this list of trainings below. Make sure you log your notes and learning outcomes in the Activity Log.
