School Violence Intervention Policies and Procedures
Character lessons—Counselors and teachers plan implement lessons to promote positive character.Bullying—in accordance with District Policy, FFI (Legal)(Local), professional development is provided to all staff regarding bullying. Counselors also provide counseling and lessons addressing bulling for both victims and perpetrators. Guidelines are provided for parents and students in the Student Handbook. Reporting can also be done anonymously through the district webpage.Dating Violence—District professional development opportunities are available on topics relating to dating violence. District Policy, FFH(Legal)(Local) provide guidance for these activities and interventions.Child Abuse—District Policy FFG and GRA (Legal)(Local) provide guidance for training and procedures for recognizing, responding to, and reporting child abuse. Training is provided annually to all district employees.Education on the prevention of unwanted physical or verbal aggression and/or sexual harassment is provided to district employees. District Policy provides the necessary guidance. The District Improvement Plan also reflects these strategies. Policy: FFG (Legal), FFG(Exhibit), FFH (Legal)(Local), GRA (Legal)(Local), DH (Local)(Exhibit), and DMA(Legal).The Multi-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) at each campus provides procedures for response related to violence and criminal activity. Lock-Out and Lock-Down procedures are reviewed and practiced with staff as required.Updates to EOP are made in response to periodic audits.Drug and Alcohol Awareness Education is provided at each campus.Each October, activities for students as a part of the Red Ribbon Activities are provided to promote awareness. Anti-drug material is shared with students.School utilize security cameras. The Raptor System is utilized for visitor tracking. All campuses have an installed buzz-in entrance system. Key cards are used by staff.Threat assessment teams are used to assess any threats that arise on campus.A District Safety and Security Committee has been established. Members include district staff, school board member(s), community first responders.
