Welcome to the Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School Key Stage 4 Options information site. This site will give you all the information you need to know when choosing your Key Stage 4 options. It contains detailed information about all the subjects on offer as well as an electronic form to complete your options choices.
Dear Year 8 Pupils.
At Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School we have aimed to provide you with a wide variety of KS4 subject choices to give you a broad and balanced education in line with the National Curriculum. You have now reached a stage where you are able to make some choices about the subjects that you wish to study in Years 9, 10 and 11. We have already asked you for an indication of the subject choices that you think you might be interested in and will ask you for your final choices shortly.
In making these choices it is important to keep a careful balance of subjects. This website contains information about the many courses that are available to you to help you achieve this balance. Your final choice should depend on your interests, ability and any career ideas that you may have. You should avoid taking a particular subject just because your friends or a particular friend is also choosing it or because you liked the teacher who may be teaching you the subject in year 8.
It is very important that you take the opportunity to talk to your teachers about the courses offered in Years 9, 10 and 11, particularly those that will be completely new to you, to find out if they are the right ones for you.
If you have any concerns, remember that your mentors and teachers are there to help you. If you have any doubts about your choices, you may also wish to speak to our careers advisor. Finally, make sure that you discuss your options with your parents so that your eventual choice will be the right one for you and your future.

All of the subjects on offer at Key Stage 4 have been arranged into option blocks as you can see in the table below.

Maths, English, Science, Welsh, Welsh Baccalaureate, IT, PE and Religious Studies are all compulsory but you will be able to select three option subjects from those below.

You can only select one subject from each option block and please note that some subjects are a double option and if taken in one option block they must also be taken in the other block as well, these subjects have an * next to them in the list.
