The Yorktown High School Speech & Debate Team is one of the most prominent Speech & Debate programs in Virginia and the Washington Metropolitan Area. The team has a long history and a tradition of excellence spanning over more than 50 years, winning National, State, Regional, and District titles. In addition, the team has received recognition from the Virginia General Assembly (HJ5057) and Arlington County.
The team currently competes in the Washington Area Speech and Debate League (WASDL), a division of the National Catholic Forensic League and in Conference 6 in the 6A North Region in the Virginia High School League (VHSL).
In 2012, the team was recognized as part of the Top 10% Chapters from the National Forensic League (now National Speech & Debate Association), it was further accepted into the NFL (NSDA)'s prestigious 100 Club.
