Google Classroom

Google Classroom functionality, including posting assignments, providing feedback & returning student work, messaging students, the student view, and changing universal settings

Screencastify

Learn about Screencastify, the most popular screen recording chrome extension. It is easy to use, but only allows teachers to create videos of up to 5 minutes. There is, however, no limit on how many videos you can create.

Pear Deck

Enhance your Google Slides presentations with Peardeck. This Google Slides addon allows you to host online lessons. Students will be able to respond to multiple question formats, including: text response, multiple choice, drawings, and more. Peardeck has two modes. In the first mode, the teacher fully controls the slide presentation that studnts see. In the second mode, students control their progression through the slides.

Aeries Gradebook

Learn how to setup your gradebook in a way that avoids common errors. Also learn to connect your gradebook to Google Classroom

Remind

The Remind App is a powerful tool to keep in touch with students. Students tend to use text messaging in place of calling or recieving calls. The Remind app leverages that tendancy to allow you to stay in contact with your students, including those typically hard to reach.

Nearpod

Learn to use Nearpod to create presentations that can contain quizzes, polls, videos, images, drawing-boards, and web content The teacher can move the class through the presentation allowing students to interact with the media as they go. Teachers can also opt for student-paced learning, where the student controls the flow of the lesson.

Meeting Social Emotional Needs

Emotional needs in distance learning. Defining trauma and the effects that trauma has on the brain and learning. How can we distinguish between toxic stress and healthy stress- and how do we help kids define and manage? How to help students with executive functioning skills. This session will provide an overview of Google Slides and how they can be incorporated with virtual learning. Topics covered will include assigning in Google Classroom, permissions, collaborative slide decks, add ons , and the advantages of using slides in place of PDFs.

Google Sheets

This session will provide an overview of Google Sheets and how they can be incorporated with virtual learning. Learn how to leverage your data from Google Forms, use Sheets to monitor student progress, use basic formulas, turn data into graphs & charts, and embed tables & charts into your docs and slides.

Google Forms

This session will provide an overview of Google Forms and how they can be incorporated with virtual learning. Learn how to leverage Forms to get quick feedback, create formative and summative assessments,. create surveys, and learn about how Forms link to Google Classroom. Google Docs

This session will provide an overview of Google Docs and how they can be incorporated with virtual learning. Topics covered will include creating and assigning in Google Classroom, permissions, collaborative documents, incorporating pictures & Google drawings, add-ons, and the advantages of docs in place of PDFs.

Google Meet

Learn about the features of Google Meet including setting up a Google Meet, sharing your screen, recording, muting, using settings, and taking attendance.

Kami

Kami is a pdf reader and editor. Learn how to leverage the power of kami to make your pdf activities usable by students.

LOOM

Learn about Loom, a chrome extention that is easy to use. It is a desktop screen recorder that allows teachers to create videos of unlimited length (at no cost to educators). Loom also has an in house video editor.

EdPuzzle

Learn about using Edpuzzle to create presentations with embedded questions. Using a bank of videos, including youtube videos, teachers can create interactive lessons with response questions based on the video segments.

Seesaw

Seesaw creates a meaningful loop between teachers, students, and families. Students can use the built-in capture tools to “show what they know”, teachers gain an understanding on student progress, and families have a view of the lessons and learning going on in the school day.

Whiteboard.fi

Use Whiteboard to create an interactive learning environment for your class. Whiteboard.fi is a free form application that allows students to show their learning. It is also very simple to use.

Flipgrid

Learn about Flipgrid, a website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display.

READ 180

August 6th

This is a "live online" session for both "new" R180 teachers & experienced R180 teachers. Topics will include: Components of R180 & R180 Instructional Model; Strategies for Distance Learning with R180; and Progress Monitoring/Acceleration.

System 44

Learn about System 44, a digital phonics intervention. The System 44 scope and sequence guides students through five strands: The Code, Word Strategies, Sight Words, Success, and Writing, providing differentiated instruction and practice in each. System 44 Digital Only will be available to 3rd through 5th graders who are struggling in Phonics. Teachers will have access to the System 44 reporting features that provide progress monitoring data for each student.

ELD

This turorial provides best practices for teaching quality ELD lessons during distance learning that will meet students needs and keep them moving toward reclassification.

iRead

Learn about iRead, a digital intervention program designed to provide students with individualized experiences that will ensure they master the alphabet, phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency, while building vocabulary and comprehension. iRead also includes reporting features that provide teachers with data that can be used group students for small group intervention with their teacher. All K-2nd students will have access to the iRead Digital Platform this school year.

Classlink

Most tools you will need are located on your Classlink page. To access you Classlink page you will use your district computer. Remember to use the prefix to your email and leave out the @ycusd.org.
