How Do YCA Students Learn?

YCA Students attend 2 instructional meetings per week at the YCA campus, progressing through their courses at their own pace with most of their learning taking place at home.

Students are able to select from a variety of options, including their graduate track, electives, and instructional meeting times. YCA teachers are flexible and able to meet a variety of student scheduling requirements.

YCA offers all of their classes online through Edgenuity. Our online courses and curriculum are built using an instructional model grounded in research and are aligned to Common Core State Standards. YCA offers a full UC/CSU prep curriculum (A-G), Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and credit recovery classes. This curriculum offers direct instruction videos featuring expert, on-screen teachers with rigorous assignments, performance tasks, and assessments to engage students and ensure subject area mastery.

Small Class Sizes

Personalized Instruction

A typical class at YCA is less than half of a traditional classroom. This means more 1 to 1 instruction from your assigned supervising teacher. Working with their assigned teacher, students and families develop a custom course schedule tailored to their student's interests. On Edgenuity, students are able to pause and re-watch a lesson at any time. Credentialed and experienced supervising teachers are available every school day to guide, assist, and offer useful feedback to students in person.
