Portfolios are a collection of student work designed to demonstrate growth and reflection over the Primary Years Program. Portfolios celebrate student learning and show development of the whole student. Portfolios are also used to facilitate student-led conferences.
Students first choose a piece of work that best shows their thinking for their current IB unit of study.
This reflection sheet is used to identify the theme, central idea, learner profile attribute and an explanation of the work chosen.
Families are given an opportunity to share connections and student learning evidenced outside of the school day.
A morning is set aside at the beginning of each school year to visit the prior year teacher. Students have an opportunity to talk to students about their experiences in that class while also picking up their portfolio for their current year of study.
Students present their learning with their parent/s or guardian/s. Each grade level has a format for students to use. This is an example of a first grade conference plan.
After sharing their work, students will identify their areas of strength and areas to improve upon. These may become learning goals.
