Library News!

Great news! The library is entering a transition phase! Planning for our eventual move into our new home, we are downsizing our physical collection and upsizing our digital collection. Our acquisition plan is focused on new technologies for learning, creating, and making.

Don't Have a Public Library Card?

Did you never get around to getting a library card at any public library?

Markham Public Library has quick online process for getting one. You just need a cell phone. The campaign code is AccessMPL. Use your phone number as a library card number and the verification code that is sent to your phone as the pin number.

Toronto Public library also has a free temporary library card available easily and immediately -- if you have a cell phone with a 416, 647, or 437 area code.

About the Library

Pandemic closures and restrictions aside, the St. Robert Library is arguably one of the busiest high school libraries in the region. Pre-pandemic, you would often find standing room only during our busy times. The library is a hub of productivity and at any time of the day, you would find student groups working on projects, individual students studying, printing documents, accessing technology, and more. It's never quiet.

We look forward to returning to this productive hum. Please be patient this year as we work within public health guidelines to reopen safely. Our current guidelines permit us to be open for individual study only (as well as for class cohort visits).

Chromebooks

Library chromebooks are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for face-to-face students to borrow for a period (half a day). Teachers will tell you in advance if a device is needed. Some departments have chromebooks that the teacher can bring to class for your use. If not, they may also reserve a number of chromebooks from the library for the period. The library is also able to loan chromebooks to Remote Cohort students who need a device in order to be able to attend classes virtually from home. This also applies to students who are required to isolate. (Note: St. Robert is not a 1:1 school).
