Welcome to the Resource page. Playing is fun, but creating a game will help consolidate learning, use their creativity, and practice critical thinking and problem-solving. Your 7-12 class can create a Pit Stop for any location not already done. The tasks range from purely physical challenges to more tech-driven ones.
Please use the resources below to support you and your class to create your own. Email jennifer.casa-todd@ycdsb.ca or tweet @JCasaTodd to confirm your participation and the location or if you have any questions.
This is an overview of what I use with students to get them ready to create their own game. Of course you are welcome to make your own copy and personalize this. Here is the template.
I divide my class up into partners and triads and have them play games. They find the games challenging (sometimes frustrating), which is good for them!
I ask them to take notes on what they like & dislike here. I give them the choice to complete it electronically or in hard copy.
We debrief at the end. Students share what they had to do to play and what they like/disliked. They often have lots to say!
Watch an episode of the Amazing Race to get you thinking about how you might organize your game
