A good day starts with a consistent morning entry. Children feel less stress when they know what to expect: the bell will ring, they will line up, a teacher will greet them and they will enter the class. Once inside, they hang their bags, return Book Bag or Communication folders and start the day either at learning centers or as a whole group on the carpet. Students then have the opportunity to explore various centers with a focus on literacy and mathematical concepts.
Students are fully supervised during lunchtime. They have 30 minutes to enjoy a packed lunch sitting with peers at a table and then 30 minutes outside for physical activity. The kindergarten yard is separate from the school yard and has it's own entry directly into the kindergarten classrooms.
The afternoon begins just like the morning: the bell will ring, they will line up, a teacher will greet them and they will enter the class. Students will have the opportunity to further explore at centers, have snack and engage with peers. Students are dismissed at 2:50 pm to an authorized caregiver, after school daycare or are placed on the bus.
