Auditions will take place in person, December 16th & 17th, 2024.
Each applicant will be required to complete a fun and challenging in class drawing that shows us ability to see and interpret space (This is usually a still life arrangement). All Drawing materials are provided.
Once completed applicants will get a chance to present their portfolio to 2 teachers in a 10 minute presentation. We will ask a few questions that tells us a bit about your artwork and interests.
We will have student leaders and staff helping you transport portfolio contents from room to room as well as providing assistance on the day to help facilitate the preceding requirements.

Please prepare to present 6-8 pieces in a variety of media plus your sketchbook(s) and process work. Below is a recommended list of work to include:
Media Options: Your portfolio can include works in pencil crayon, watercolor, oil, acrylic, charcoal, or pencil.
Self-Portrait : Create a self-portrait in any medium or style.
Drawings or Paintings from Life: Include pieces created from real-life observation, rather than copied from photographs.
Digital Photography (optional): Submit any digital photography work taken with mobile devices or cameras.
Sketchbook: Bring a sketchbook with recent work to showcase your ongoing exploration and creative growth.
Process Work: For at least one piece in your portfolio, include all the process work behind it. We’re very interested in your unique perspective, creative journey, and the thoughts behind your work. Process work can include:
Thumbnails and sketches
Early ideas and brainstorming
Explorations and studies
Messy experiments
Mistakes or early drafts
All work must be original and created by you—not copied, generated by others, or AI-created. We’re excited to see your creativity and how you view the world!
For your audition, be prepared to share your artistic journey, inspirations, and the story behind your favorite piece. We want to know what drives your passion and see your personality shine through your art!
To assist you in preparing for your audition, here are some sample questions to help you get ready:
How did you first get into making art? What got you interested?
What's the story behind your favorite piece? Why is it special to you?
When you feel stuck, how do you find inspiration? Any tricks?
Who or what inspires your art? An artist, place, or something else?
Do you listen to music while creating? How does it affect your art?
Tell us about a time you tried something new in art. What did you learn?
Which piece in your portfolio best reflects who you are?
Have you faced challenges with any artwork? How did you overcome them?
You have digital and traditional art—do you prefer one? Why?
What do you like about creating art on a computer/tablet or with paper/canvas?

Applying to the Digital Art RAP program is an exciting first step in your creative journey! The audition isn’t just about skills—it’s a chance to show your creativity, passion, and potential.
