WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY?
Must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Equivalent.
To apply to a University program, students must have
6U/M Grade 12 U/M level courses from high school including Grade 12 English (ENG4U)
Each program will outline required courses for admission along with guideline of an average minimum.
Some programs will also require a supplemental application, audition, portfolio or interview
RESEARCH: FIND A PROGRAM
Once you find a program-click on the title to see the OVERIEW of the program. We will use Commerce at Queen's as an example.
Important pieces of information include:
Degree: This tells you exactly what credential you will earn at this university
OUAC Program code: This is the program code that you will use when applying through OUAC.
Grade Range: This is the average mark of students accepted into the program LAST year. It is ony to be used as a guideline.
Experiential Learning: this will tell you if the program has a practicum, co-op or internship available.
Enrollment: This is the number of students that will be admitted into the program
Instruction Language: the language that the classes will be taught with
Notes: any additional information that the university would like you to know.
Once you have read the overview, click on REQUIREMENTS of the program.
Important pieces of information include:
Prerequisites: This tells you exactly what grade 12 courses you require for admission into the program. Some may include marks. Some may include recommended courses where students may not have the course but still be considered for admission.
IB and AP Requirements: Visit the link provided to see how each university considers both programs.
Additional Admission Criteria: This section is were students will learn if there are additional items to complete that will be considered for admissions along with their grades.
Language Requirements: language requirements for each university is set here.
Enrollment: This is the number of students that will be admitted into the program

Notes: any additional information that the university would like you to know.

Basic Requirements of Admission: This area will tell you how the university/program will calculate or review admissions.
Failed or Repeated Courses: This section will tell you how the university views failed or repeated courses.
Timing and Process for Admission Decisions: This area will tell you the admission timeline of the university program. Some are in cycles and some are rolling admission.
Alternate Offers: This area will tell you if the university or program will provide a student with alternate offers.

HOW TO APPLY

Students may apply as early as September
Students can apply to three programs for $156.00
Each additional program costs $50
Maximum of 3 programs at any one university (including all campuses)
There may be supplemental application fees depending on the program/university
Universities have access to all Grade 11 and 12 marks, regardless of when or where the credit was earned.
Grade 11 marks will be considered in place of Grade 12 prerequisite courses for universities to make decisions
It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that marks have been recorded correctly in their OUAC account.
APPLICATION TIMELINE 2024-25
OUAC launches Ontario Universities’ Info and begins posting application material with updated information for fall 2025 admission.
September: OUAC applications open
January 15: Deadline for Ontario high school students to submit their completed applications to the OUAC.
NOTE: OUAC will continue to process the applications we receive after this date and distribute them to the Ontario universities; however, specific university deadlines will apply.
• The initial application includes all final grades from completed Grade 11 and 12 courses and a list of all current-year courses in progress.
May 29: The latest date all high school applicants who submitted their application by the January application deadline can expect a response from an Ontario university. This includes an offer of admission, a refusal or a deferral, once additional information is received.
June 2: The earliest date an Ontario high school student may be required to respond to an Ontario university offer of admission and give a financial commitment (e.g., registration deposit, residence deposit).
