All Regional Arts Instrumental Music applicants must prepare the following outlined below.
Each applicant is required to play TWO contrasting pieces of their choice demonstrating their skill and musicianship on their instrument.
Music pieces should differ in style or genres of music
Each candidate is to provide sheet music to the audition panel prior to performing
Each student will participate in a brief interview. Questions will focus on WHY the student wants to be in the Instrumental Music Program and WHAT the student can bring to the program. Questions may also focus on HOW the student prepared for the audition.

Which instruments could I play in class?
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium/Baritone Horn, Tuba, String Bass & Percussion
I play the piano or violin, can I audition for a spot in the Regional Arts program?
Yes, you can audition on any instrument. We respect music students who express themselves and demonstrate a passion for making music with control and artistry. If you audition on piano, violin, viola, cello, harp, and accordion, and are successful, and are offered admission to the Regional Arts program, we expect you to select a concert band instrument to study during music class. Keep in mind that we also have other extra-curricular ensembles that students may have the opportunity to participate in, such as Jazz and RnB band.
If I do not audition for grade 9, can I audition the following years?
Yes, regardless of grade level, all students are encouraged to audition if they have a passion for playing a musical instrument
