The Regional Arts Drama audition consists of TWO components as outlined below.
Each applicant is required to prepare a monologue. [Please note that students entering grade 10 or higher must prepare TWO contrasting monologues.]
The monologue(s) should be memorized.
Students may choose to perform one of the monologues provided by St. Elizabeth CHS found BELOW or one of their choosing as long as it is from a play.
The monologue CANNOT be from a film, a television show or a student written piece.
Each student will participate in a brief interview. Questions will focus on WHY the student wants to be in the Drama Program and WHAT the student can bring to the program. Questions may also focus on HOW the student prepared for the audition and WHAT research the student did about the backstory of the play from which the monologue came.
Why do you want to be a student at St. Elizabeth high school?
What can you contribute to the Drama program?
What skills do you think Drama can give you to support you in your future career?
How did you prepare for this audition?
How do I prepare for my audition?
You must memorize a monologue. No costumes props or accents please.
It is suggested that prospective candidates read the play or synopsis of the play to better understand how to play the character.
If I do not audition in grade 9, can I audition later for grade 10 or 11?
Yes, you can audition later for grade 10 or 11, but the expectations will be higher as you are now expected to be at the same level as students in those classes. If you are auditioning for a senior level Regional Arts Drama class, you must prepare TWO contrasting monologues for your audition.
