Purpose: To become familiar with one of the oldest photographic methods (1842), invented by Sir John Herschel and Anna Atkins, who created the first photographic books;
To learn the fundamental principles of photography—light sensitivity, exposure time, and image development—without needing a camera, using materials like plants or digital negatives.
What surprised me most about how the cyanotype process and how it works was how fast the color started to develop and how it picked up very fine detail.
Positive space is the main subject or objects in an image, while negative space is the empty area around them. In a cyanotype, the objects block light and appear white, and the exposed areas turn blue. Considering both helps create clear, balanced, and visually interesting designs.
Next time, I would choose objects with more interesting shapes and clearer edges so the image stands out more. I would also experiment with how I arrange the objects to create better balance and use more intentional negative space. I might try layering or overlapping items to add depth and make the composition more visually interesting.
I thinkwhen i took this cyanotype It looked a litlle bit better with deatai and i liek it way more perisonally i thin. tjhat i just chose a lot of nature objects that have lot of jucies or fluouds and it got on my work
