I was really drawn to the composition of the photo and the organization of the subjects. The slightly hidden photo of the girl and the text on the letter saying "true friendship" makes the photograph have a creative narrative and spark interest. I want to try to make interesting stories such as this in my photos to emphasize that sentiment.

The lighting in the photograph is what I first noticed, illuminating the sentimental subject and adding a sense of purity and significance. The creative but simplistic background is something else that helps to accentuate the subject and brings more curiosity towards it. While creating my photos, I will this technique of illuminating the subject and putting it against a simpler background.

I love the lighting of this photo, being slightly dim but on the warmer side. This brings more attention to the warmer colors on the cloth and gives it a nostalgic feel. Even though the subject is not very clear, the lighting is what makes the photo feel most sentimental and is something I would like to focus on as well (how it affects the narrative and mood).
"The Perfect Pair"

As I was going on a walk, I noticed two monarch butterflies flying around the flower garden together, almost dancing around one another. This almost rare occasion due to the ending migration season immediately caught my attention, representing the last bit of summer "flying" away. As a kid, I always loved to watch the butterflies in the school garden as well, reminding me of my childhood.
"Youthful Roots"

This silver heart locket contains photographs of my parents when they were younger, and most likely around my age. These photographs hold a lot of meaning to me as they are the only true glimpse I get into what they were like in their youth, and how much I can relate to them. From my mom's eyebrows to my dad's nose, I am able to see myself in them and have a better understanding of my roots.
"Jazz Hands"

During my dad's nightly piano session, I immediately thought about this assignment when I heard him begin to play his jazz pieces. Growing up, I was very much raised in a jazz household. If my dad was not playing Herbie Hancock CD's, he would be playing jazz music on the piano. Listening to him play nearly every night has been and will be one of the fondest memories I have of him, always holding jazz music close.
"Puppy Love"

I love this photograph for many reasons, one of them being the two subjects within it. One of my closest and longest friends, Abbie, holding her dog, Koa, with a loving smile truly captures her persona. She and I have a great love for dogs, both of us growing up with them and each other's. This photograph with both her and her dog really reminds me of the people and animals that I cherish in life and have almost always stayed with and depended on.
