Overriding Question: How might we plan and implement Project Based Learning in the classroom?
§ Participants will create activities, student materials and assessments that are designed to promote connections between Yarmouth beliefs about learning, Inquiry based learning, and authentic learning experiences.
§ Teams of educators will develop methods to develop project based learning experiences across units and disciplines.
§ Participants will explore methods to increase student motivation and engagement in learning
§ Participants will develop lessons, try them in their classroom, and get feedback on during the course.
§ Design experiences that promote new and innovative learning experiences in the classroom.
§ In the final session participants will share their projects and plans with other course participants.
§ Upon completion of the course participants will be experienced practitioners of the Project Based Learning Model.
The design of this course includes multiple sessions and choices for learning.
§ Class discussions and teamwork will be part of each class meeting.
§ Participants will be expected to attend all sessions and interact with each other as well as the instructors during the course.
§ Interview or online sessions from teachers that are currently using the classroom model.
§ Individual participants or teams of teachers will design a project supporting innovative learning that will impact their students and/or classes.
§ Participants will follow the course sessions with planned implementation
§ Participants will follow the course sessions with tools and resources designed to connect the Yarmouth beliefs about learning.
§ The course will require selected readings and videos.
§ Project planning activities
