6th Grade Language Arts Standards:

Topic Development: I write with focus and organization.
Mechanics: I write with accurate punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and complete sentences.
Comprehension: I understand and analyze what I read.

Independent Reading

Every Tuesday and Wednesday, read a book of your choice for 20 minutes outside of class.

Look what happens if you choose to read EVERY night! :)

Independent Writing

Every Monday and Thursday, write for 15 minutes outside of class. You may write about anything you want! You may continue a piece of writing already started, or start something new. You may use paper/pencil, or the computer. Think about the writing strategies we are exploring in class now - try and use one in your writing!!
