Research shows that spending at least 120 minutes a week outside and in nature can promote better health and overall well-being. The activity does not matter - whether you are physically active or just relaxing, the act of being outside is what matters! There are many amazing walking and biking trails in our area. Check out the Royal River Conservation Trust for a list of trails.
Transportation is Maine’s largest source of carbon emissions. LD 1170 creates a visionary rail plan that best serves commuters, employers, and our climate goals. The youth will especially benefit from increased rail access, for it provides a reliable and affordable mode of transportation. The Amtrak Downeaster, a passenger rail train system, runs through Yarmouth. The public hearing for a bill that would improve the Downeaster, LD 1170, will be April 12th at 1 pm! This means that we need your testimony to show youth and grassroots support for this bill. For a guide on how to write and submit testimony, check out this testimony template!
Art can inform and challenge how we interact with the world around us. Gulf of Maine EcoArts has partnered with Maine Maritime Museum to create a year-long art and natural science exhibition, 'SeaChange: Darkness & Light in the Gulf of Maine’.
