Hello! I am thrilled to begin my eighth year teaching third grade at YES. I grew up in Waterville, Maine and graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with my Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education. Go Black Bears! I am so lucky to be able to spend my days with these amazing third graders!
In my free time, I love to play all sports, swim, walk or do anything active. That’s not to say I don’t love to veg on out the couch every now and then! I also LOVE to read, be artistic and spend lots of time with my family and friends. Life is good. :)
In my classroom, the goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere where students feel comfortable and safe. It is important for me that students feel confident enough to try new things, make mistakes and step out of their comfort zones. Students will have the freedom to express their creativity, imagination and ingenuity. To foster this, I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. Over the course of the school year, I look forward to seeing students develop from learners who rely on me to lead class discussions and instruction, to learners who pose their own questions, work collaboratively, and solve problems. I look forward to creating fun and engaging ways for my students to learn. Here’s to a fabulous school year!
