Important Information for Candidates Who Have Passed the Internal Selection
All candidates who have passed the internal selection at the University of Yamanashi have been officially nominated to MEXT. At present, all applications are under final review by MEXT. Please note that the university is not able to provide any updates regarding the selection results at this stage.
According to the standard schedule, the official results are expected to be announced by MEXT between late June and early July. Once the university receives the official notification, successful candidates (in most cases, all nominees) will be contacted promptly.
After the notification, the university will conduct a formal admission process, including an interview. This procedure is required for enrollment and is generally conducted shortly after the announcement. As part of this process, successful candidates will be required to promptly submit an application for admission.
Please note that most of the required application documents can be substituted with those already submitted for the MEXT nomination. Detailed instructions will be provided in the application guidelines, which are scheduled to be published in early May.
We kindly ask all candidates to refrain from individual inquiries regarding the status of their application, as we are unable to provide additional information before the official results are released.
Thank you for your understanding and patience. (March 23, 2026, modified March 24, 2026)
Notifications of Document Screening Results were Sent
The notification of the document screening results was sent to all applicants at around 18:41 (JST) on January 23, 2026. However, we have been informed that some of these emails may have been delivered to spam or junk folders. If you have not yet found the notification, please check the spam/junk folder of the email account that you registered in your application. (Jan. 24, 2026)
Approximate Calculation of Academic Grade Point Coefficient (MEXT Standard)
Academic Grade Point Coefficient =
{(Credits with marks 80–100 × 3) + (Credits with marks 70–79 × 2) + (Credits with marks 60–69 × 1) + (Credits with marks ≤59 × 0)} divided by (Total registered credits counted for this calculation)
Note 1: If a letter grade spans multiple ranges, the lower MEXT score (3,2,1,0) will be used.
Note 2: Only grades available at the time of application will be used.
Note 3: Courses with non-standard grades (e.g., I, P, X, etc.) are excluded from both the numerator and the denominator.
Note 4: The coefficient is truncated at the second decimal place (round down).

Addressing Inconsistency on this Web Site Note
We noticed an inconsistency in the NOTE below regarding the submission timing of Form 5 (Application Form). Form 5 is listed as a required document; however, due to this inconsistency, some applications may not include Form 5. Therefore, applications will be screened fairly, and no applicant will be disadvantaged solely because Form 5 is missing at this stage. Accordingly, no action is needed at this time.
To prevent any missing documents, applicants who pass the document screening will be asked to resubmit all required documents, including Form 5, at the next stage.
(Jan. 15, 2026)
Please Contact Only One Faculty Member
For a fair and smooth screening process, please contact one faculty member only at a time, as instructed.
We have recently confirmed a case where an applicant contacted multiple faculty members in parallel despite this instruction, and we have decided not to accept that applicant.
If you contact multiple faculty members at the same time, your inquiry/application may be declined. Please follow the stated procedure.
Thank you for your cooperation.
